She was hoping to land the lead role in the film, a coveted spot, considering the cult status the franchisee enjoys and Aamir Khan’s presence in the film. But at the last minute, Aamir rejected her claims, as he is apprehensive about his pairing with Deepika.
“Deepika’s last film with Aamir’s nephew Imran Break Ke Baad, failed at the box office, and Aamir feels this would still be fresh in the mind of the audience. Being a perfectionist, Aamir has an eye for these things. And the producers too agree with his logic,” says our source.
With Deepika out of the reckoning, however, the race gets trickier. Apart from Hollywood celebrities, Katrina Kaif was also in the running.
