The viewers of bollywood films wish happy birthday to Deepika Padukone on 5th January, 2010. Deepika Padukone, the daughter of renowned badminton player Prakash Padukone, started her career in the fashion world from where the producers and directors got impressed.

She made a dream debut in the film Om Shanti Om, opposite Shahrukh Khan. Shahrukh Khan was one of the biggest icons of bollywood films till 2007. Akshay Kumar had shaken up the box-office domination of Shahrukh Khan after giving many blockbusters in the last few years. It was a dream which came true for Deepika Padukone to act opposite Shahrukh Khan in the romantic blockbuster. Farah Khan and Shahrukh Khan searched a new face for the film. Deepika Padukone answered their query.

The film was related to reincarnation. Deepika Padukone and Shahrukh Khan had double roles in the film. Deepika was killed by breaking out of fire in a grand studio. The entire story of her death was recreated to bring the perpetrators of crime before the people at large. The soul of Deepika Padukone did the rest.

The film had similar story line like that of Karz. But the excellent music of the film and decent performance from Deepika Padukone and Shahrukh Khan had converted a decent film into a commercially successful mission. The songs of Sonu Nigam and others like “tumko paya hai to jaise”, “om shanty om”, “ankho me teri”, etc., became landmark hits in 2007.

Deepika Padukone bagged the best debutant award in the filmfare and Om Shanti Om bagged filmfare awards under different categories. As Deepika Padukone created a huge expectation from the performance in the first film the viewers started believing in her capability in the following films as well.

She did well again in 2008 in the film Bacchna Aye Haseeno opposite Ranbir Kapoor, Minissha Lamba and Bipasha Basu. The film was related to the story of how Ranbir Kapoor met three girls namely Bipasha Basu, Deepika Padukone and Minissha Lamba and how their interaction created an impact in the life of Ranbir Kapoor.

Again the fabulous locations and quality music composed by Vishal Shekhar impressed the viewers. The hit songs included “bacchna aye haseeno”, “ki mujhe pyar hai”, etc. Deepika Padukone probably matched Ranbir Kapoor the best if compared with the other performers in the same film.

In 2009, Deepika’s much awaited film Chandni Chowk To China was released in January. She had acted opposite superstar Akshay Kumar who had shown his action skills and comedy skills as well in the film. For the requirement of the film Deepika Padukone had learned martial art as well which was done by Priyanka Chopra in the past. But the film did mediocre business.

The other film of Deepika Padukone that was released in 2009 was Love Aaj Kaal. It was the film of Saif Ali Khan and he acted opposite Deepika Padukone. The film became a big hit and the romantic combination of Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone was accepted by the audience. The music of Pritam was well appreciated by the audience including the song “chor bazari”.

After that Deepika Padukone had acted in many films in 2010, including Billo Barbar, Lafange Parindey, Larenge Hum Ji Jaanse, etc., and acted opposite many actors including Farhan Akshtar, Abhishek Bacchan (where he played the role of Masterda Surjo Sen in Ashutosh Gowarikar’s flm), etc.

The viewers expect Deepika Padukone to revive her position and continue her great work in the years to come in bollywood films and other films.

If you have the fame and fortune, it's only natural to think about future investments. Well Deepika Padukone is smartly investing in real estate. The actress has recently purchased a sprawling 2,776 sq foot four bed roomed apartment with three parking slots in BeauMonde Towers, Prabhadevi.

The said flat is on the 26th floor of a 33-storey tower which comes with a price tag of a whopping Rs.16 crore. But for a place that is as close to the Siddhivinayak temple, we guess it's worth every penny spent.

It is also learnt that the actress and her father had visited the property registration office at the Old Custom House in Fort to pay stamp duty for their new apartment, which amounted to approximately Rs. 79, 82,600, and was done jointly in Deepika and her father's name. The actress however might continue to live in her current Pali Hill apartment with her family.

Deepika Padukone and Siddharth Mallya were spotted at Mumbai's international airport on Sunday afternoon. The couple was headed for London.

It looks like the twosome preferred to soak in the Christmas festivities here and then head for England for the New Year celebrations.

Though the actress stuck to a casual jeans look as travel wear except for her furry boots, Mallya Jr was in a leather jacket and muffler. London is freezing and Dippy certainly needs a lot of warmth!

Prakash Jha’s next film Aarakshan has been going through a cast shuffle since the time it had been announced. Originally, the film was to star Amitabh Bachchan, Manoj Bajpayee, Ajay Devgn, Prateik Babbar and Deepika Padukone, but now Ajay Devgn has said no to the project and his role has been replaced by Saif Ali Khan.

Confirming this, Amitabh Bachchan posted on his blog saying, “Preparations for ‘Aarakshan’ with Prakash Jha are on in swing and another meet today was done to finalize aspects of the oncoming shoot. Saif Ali now replaces Ajay and soon we shall be making a final announcement of this.”

Deepika Padukone has been finalized to play the role of Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter. Two other leading actresses were being considered for the part. And initially, Jha even thought of casting a newcomer. However, Deepika’s height and demeanour worked in her favor.

Prakash reveals how he chose Deepika for the role and says, “I began to flesh out the part, make it more dramatic. That’s when I thought of Deepika in the role of Bachchan Saab’s daughter. They’re both tall and look quite like father and daughter.”

The film deals with the issue of reservation and its impact on the society. It will be shot in Bhopal next year.

Dec 23, 2010, (Bollywood Actresses) - Deepika Padukone looked pristine in a full-skirted white dress at a presser to announce the launch of her new film Aarakshan on December 22.

Deepika's belted dress had buttons in the front, ruffle detail on neck and elbow length sleeves.

The 24-year-old accessorized with glossy tan pumps, hoop earrings and stacked bangles.

Her medium brown colored hair was styled half up half down with a side parting.

She wore winged eyeliner and bronze lipstick.

Also attending the event were Deepika's co-stars Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan and Prateik Babbar; director Prakash Jha and producer Firoz Nadiadwala.

Bachchan plays a college principal in the film and Deepika his daughter, in the two stars' first screen appearance together. Jha reportedly picked Deepika for the role because her lanky looks are not unlike those of Bachchan's real life daughter Shweta Nanda.

Deepika also co-stars with Prateik for the first time in the film and was seen chatting him up at the event.

Saif, who plays a backward class student in the film, was paired with Deepika in Imtiaz Ali's Love Aaj Kal (2009).

Deepika Padukone Director of Olympic Gold Quest

Actress Deepika Padukone is following her dad and former badminton champion Prakash Padukone’s footsteps. For the first time, a Bollywood actor has been made a director of the Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ) — the biggest apex support group for Indian athletes and sportspersons founded by billiards champ Geet Sethi and Prakash Padukone. The other members of the board are eminent sports people like Leander Paes, Vishwanathan Anand and former India hockey captain like Viren Rasquinha among others.

Deepika dreamt of being a badminton champ like her dad once, but gave it up for midway. She admits that had it not been for the faulty infrastructure, she might have continued with the sport.

“I used to be a (badminton) player myself, so I know what the athletes have to go through (in terms of infrastructure and coaching). I always felt that there is a need to create a proper infrastructure and support group for the Indian athletes. I had wanted to do something myself but then this opportunity came along,” says Deepika.

Through the OGQ, Deepika will be collecting and mobilising funds for the athletes who have a big chance to bring home a medal at the 2012 Olympic Games to be held in London. Tennis champ Saina Nehwal, boxing champ MC Marykom and shooters Gagan Narang and Tejaswita Sawant are the sportspersons who are being supported by the OGQ for the next Olympics.

“I know being a part of such an effort is a huge responsibility and I am feeling mature for sure. I feel that one must do something to improve the facilities and infrastructure for the Indian athletes. I will do my best to ensure better facilities to the Indian athletes since they need our support and attention. I’m so happy that so many people have come forward to encourage the athletes like Gagan and Marykom who have struggled so much to make it to the top today,” she adds.

Deepika’s father Prakash was of course beaming with joy as a proud joy standing just beside her when Deepika was saying these words. According to him, today’s sportspersons of the country should get all the support that he never got when he was playing for the country.

When quizzed about marriage at the event where dips was present with her beau Siddharth, she said, “Marriage is not something which can be decided. One cannot plan when a marriage has to happen. It happens when it has to happen and at the right time”.

Siddharth Mallya, the new man in the gorgeous lady’s life has been accompanying her at every social gathering or a press event. The millionaire’s son had also confessed on Twitter that he would like to have a cake baked by Deepika.

Apparently, the young man also lost oodles of flab to get into shape and match the actress’s beauty. He has also been doing all possible things to ensure his ladylove is not left alone when she makes a public appearance.

No matter how much these lovebirds try to hide their romance, it is bound to show. And the fact that they are working towards keeping it a secret makes their story, the love story of the year.

Deepika Padukone To reweave Zeenat Dum Maro Dum

It has not been an easy task for Rohan Sippy to get permission from Dev Anand to remake his superhit song ‘Dum Maro Dum’. The makers were considering Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra to spice up the item number.

However, it was Deepika who landed up with the number and according to the inside reports, she will be seen in a very sensational avatar with a proper item girl tag.

She has already been seen in an item number “Love Mera Hit Hit” in SRK’s ‘Billu Barber’. The song will have a urban and contemporary feel and has been remixed by Pritam.

Deepika to get Confronted by ranbir

The past few weeks has seen Ranbir Kapoor at the receiving end of venomous barbs.

Ranbir, apparently, is very upset with such rumors being fed to the media and wants to trace the source. According to him, the fountainhead of all these ugly rumours are sources close to Deepika. The worst part is that calls and even SMSes sent to DP are leaked to the press, making it seem as if he is chasing her all over again.

Ranbir wants to confront Deepika and reportedly, a meeting between the two ex lovers is on the cards.
Says a source, “Ranbir wants to nail the leak”. Someone’s definitely planting stories against him and he is very angry. But he would like to give Deepika the benefit of doubt.”

Ranbir and Deepika have been in touch ever since their break up. The two even gave each other a warm hug in the studio corridor of Koffee With Karan. Though DP and RK are making enough efforts to appear cordial with each other, constant media mud-slinging is taken a toll on their friendship.

Deepika Padukone Saif Back again

The dynamic pairing of the Love Aaj Kal couple, Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan are back!

In a collaborative coup, the producer of Illuminati Films, Dinesh Vijan, has brought together a powerhouse of talent to make the company’s next film hat will start shooting in April 2011, the film will be shoot in . The untitled project has been scripted by well-known filmmaker Imtiaz Ali (Love Aaj Kal, Jab We Met), will be directed by Homi Adajania (Being Cyrus) and will be starring Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan.

The film will be shot in London, Spain and Delhi When bringing up any parallels between this and Love Aaj Kal, Homi Adajania embraces the fact that “it’s a similar space from where Love Aaj Kal left off and then it roller-coasters from there… Imtiaz has given us a hysterical and open-minded celebration of relationships that explore the various choices that life may offer… and what people are willing to surrender for love or sacrifice for friendship.”
Saif admits, “I was waiting for a script as contemporary and relevant as this to come my way and it has been worth the wait.

I'm very excited about this story, it is romantic, funny and has a great balance of drama and entertainment. I've wanted to do a love story with a modern sensibility and treatment and I know that Homi will give us exactly that. I'm also looking forward to my pairing with Deepika again....She has a fantastic role in this and I think she has grown impressively since LAK and will handle it very well.

Says Deepika--for me to do a romantic film it has to be very exciting, and yet different, and to find a script like this, which is edgy and quirky, had an instant connect for me, it has a bit of everything, and I have seen Homi's Being Cyrus, and absolutely love his work, I have great respect for him, and I’m confident he is the perfect choice to direct this film. I haven't played shades of a character like this before

This film also marks the reunion of the Love Aaj Kal team, with Saif, Dinoo and me. I’m very excited to be working with Saif again, he is one of my favourite co-stars and I hope we can recreate the magic of Love Aaj Kal once again on screen.

Deepika Ranbir Late Night Drama

Ranbir Kapoor’s surprise visit to his ex girlfriend, Deepika Padukone’s home, a couple of months ago, has become the talk of the town.

Buzz has it that, two months ago, ex-lover Ranbir was spotted in Deepika’s building compound at around 12.45 am, pleadingand later arguing with the watchman that he wanted to meet her. When the actor was not allowed inside, he called up Deepika and requested her to let him in. Deepika who was in no mood to even see his face, finally after making him wait for about half hour, asked the watchman to send him in.

While on the phone with Deepy, says an eyewitness, “Ranbir was overheard telling Deepika, ‘Please allow me to come up. I am sorry. I want to explain.”

Adds the witness, “This late night visit by Ranbir in Cozy Home Apartments is rather surprising. He used to come very frequently earlier to this place, when he was dating Deepika. But after they split in October 2009, he had completely stopped coming.”

Ranbir spent some time with Deepika and left around 1.45 am.
